Practitioner:
Debbie Meredith B Pharm, MBIBH |
Debbie Meredith studied Pharmacy at Sydney University, graduating
in 1972. She worked as a pharmacist in several major Sydney
hospitals and managed a community pharmacy before travelling
overseas and working in a London hospital.
After moving to the North Coast of NSW in 1978, Debbie worked
in community pharmacies before becoming Director of Pharmacy
at Coffs Harbour Base Hospital, a position she held for 14 years.
Debbie first heard about Buteyko
from her nephew, Aaron Lumsdaine, who is a Buteyko practitioner
based in Perth, WA, and a founding member of the Buteyko
Institute of Breathing & Health. Debbie decided to undertake a Buteyko
course because of her snoring, hayfever, general fatigue and
work stress.
She was amazed by the results - no snoring,
lots of energy, weight loss, no hayfever, and feeling calm
and relaxed. She was also impressed by the results for the
rest of the class, who were almost all asthmatics, and who
were able to dramatically reduce their need for bronchodilator
drugs.
Debbie decided to train to teach the technique
to others, and studied through the Buteyko Institute of Breathing
& Health. Since resigning from her position at the hospital,
Debbie has taught Buteyko Breathing in centres throughout
the NSW North Coast and New England areas and overseas. She
finds great satisfaction in teaching people a way to reduce
their need for drugs and really improve their health.
